An audience with Guru Chintamani Sinha.. by Rebati Mohan Sinha

One fine morning, I been to Guru Chintamani Sinha`s Assam type house in village Bekirpar, where he is presently residing with his wife and two sons. After spending almost 40 years in Delhi, unlike others he did not settled down there, went back to his birth place ie village Rengti (Bekirpar) in Baramuni. He is the youngest son of Pandit Jogendra Sinha. After Matriculation, he was in Manipur from 1957 to 1962 to learn Manipuri Dance and at the same time pursue Graduation in Arts in college.

DATE :09 sept, 09

In 1966 he completed his Master degree and decided to join Dilli Manipuri Fine Arts Centre, founded by Guru Chandrakanta Sinha. He left for Delhi during Divali  in the same year to join the Centre as dancer. His additional qualification was flute playing.

He got  married in 1962; but could not keep his family till he joined Fine Arts Centre in 1966. In 1967 he started working with a theatre group, called ‘Little Bele Troupe of Gowalior .Then he again took up the job of  teaching Dance in Junior Cambridge School in Delhi. In the same year he had left teaching and joined the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting as ‘staff artist’. The Manipuri Fine Arts Centre was his mother base. He never thought of leaving it. While narrating about the Centre, he recalled that it was the brain child of Guru Chandrakanta Sinha. And he had nourished it with great care till his death. He was having a good rapport with late Prime Minister of India, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi and got allotted a plot of land for the Fine Arts Centre and a students hostel at R K Puram, even the foundation stone was laid by Rajiv Gandhi himself just six month before his assassination in 1991. It was a misfortune of the entire Bishnupriya Manipuri that Guru Chandrakanta Sinha also left us for heavenly abode just six months after Mr. Rajiv Gandhis assassination.

The project could not continue after Gurujis death. His unfinished project remained as it is now because there was no dedicated person except his two sons, who tried their level best to continue the project; but they could not because of fund- crisis.

Subject: Comments on the TOPIC OF GURU CHINTAMONI SINHA
Description: Dear Reboti kaka, With reference to your topic regarding Late Guru Chintmoni Sinha\'s project, I want to share some personal views with you that WHY our organisations like \'Mohashabha, Sahitya Parishad etc.\" are not going ahead to solve these problems/issues. Kaka, though I visited few meetings, big adhibeshan at Tripura etc. but I dont know why such great/big organisation like Moha shabha, is formed though I know that only these plateforms can solve the problems of our society. Moha shabha, Sahitya Parishad, Sanskriti Parishad had to solve these burning issues and they should urge the youth for society\'s upcomming jobs. Kaka thank you very much that you have shown us i,e, the society about the burning problems/issues.
