In a beautifully choreographed  event organized by the Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha on the 21st Feb 2009 at Silchar, Yoga Guru Awami Ramdev has been felicitated with traditional "Leishrambi Swal" and awarded as ‘Amrit Putra’ in an event witnessed by all the who is who of Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha and Sahitya Parishad. The event started with garlanding Swamiji. Traditional Bishnupriya Manipuri headgear (Koyet) was presented to Swamiji as a token of respect by NBMM President Dr. Debendra Kumar Sinha.
Other dignataries who graced the occasion were, Dr. Ranadhir Rajkumar, Shri Yogendra Sinha, Mrs. Padmaja Sinha, President  Mahila Samiti, Mr. Uday Sinha, Secretary General NBMM,  Shri Rajendra Sinha, Ratnadeep Sinha, Pratibha Sinha, cartoonist Swapan Sinha  and many others.
Swamiji has categorically appreciated such an overwhelming felicitation. 
He also praised the way the community women were dressed in Bishnupriya Manipuri traditional attire (Angaluri, Inafi).
