For the last one decade I have seen a huge influx of Bishnupriya Manipuri migrants in to big cities like Delhi, Bangalore,Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad too.

And there are debates like we have not received proper infrastructure or support in past otherwise we could have done much better so on and so forth. We talk about not getting infrastructure and family and financial support. But what we will say that JNU has some students whose parents live below poverty level or Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidaylaya has sent 700 students to prestigious IIT. The one eligibility criteria of getting into Navodaya Vidayala is students from poor and remote corners of India. What I believe is that if you want to do a professional course like engineering, fashion technology or designing you have to decide it in your class 8. By the time you are appearing for class 8 final examinations make a solid rock strong self believe that yes I am going to do this. If you can do this I think there is no one in this earth who can stop you from what you want to do. Other professional courses like MBA, IAS will give you some time to relax but it is better if you decide it early.

Life is not all about engineering, administrative service or management, there are numerous professional courses like event management, media, travel, hospitality etc. a professional degree from an institute like National Institute of Design will well equip you to earn a fortune. So as there is fashion technology, photography art. Mr. M.F. Hussein made millions with just few strokes of his brush and colors. The options are limitless, you have to decide and believe what you want to do and deciding it early will make your life comfortable. In defence also there are some challenging lucrative job offer in army, navy and airforce. If you don’t want to be a full time defence man there are short service commissions.

As parents if you just say “baba, pakor he, pareekhha ahan kada oeel” will not work. You have to gather knowledge about everything from Harvard to English premier league, Eminem to taboo subjects like boyfriend and girlfriend. Today the generation has changed like never before. You as a parent have to be ready like a combat cop to face any situation. You show your child what is all around and ask him to choose and decide. Do not take the age old route of fulfilling your dream by using your child. This sometime has a devastating effect. I envy the students of Delhi or it must be same in other big cities that they are so matured even when they are in just class 6. One such example was child being recorded for a campaign for UNESCO. I will not agree with people saying that she made it coz she is born in a big city. The depth of her thought and what she was narrating before the camera is tremendous. It is not something that somebody has fed into her brain to speak. This was clearly her view. Of course there are some advantages but you solely cannot say that it’s the advantage of being born in a big city. If everybody thinks like that, then Resul Pookutty could have never won a Oscar. I have seen many students who were forced to study some courses which have no value from the point of view of current job markets. Some of them are shy to pursue a course from Polytechnique or ITI but they are happy struggling to complete the graduation year after year. This is complete foolishness.
